Bio
Jacob Zang is a musician who is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a guitarist, he has been playing professionally for over ten years. Jacob shows great versatility on his instrument in the studio and on the stage, playing virtually every genre and style available. As a sideman, he has worked with artists such as Chris Ruggiero, The Hobbs Sisters, Frank Vieira, Gavin McGee, Ashley Marina, and Rachel Whitcomb. He has also had the pleasure of backing up classic acts such as Lou Christie, The Drifters, Terry Sylvester of The Hollies, The Vogues, Bob Miranda of The Happenings, The Skyliners, The Shades of Blue, and Jimmie Ross of the Jaggerz. Jacob has also worked with various entertainment companies and nationally touring tribute bands.
As an artist, he regularly plays public-facing shows with his band, Fusion Illusion. On Sunday mornings, he leads the Worship Band at Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. He has studied privately with Mark Koch, Eric Susoeff, Thomas Kikta, Alex Price, Jay Weaver, and Scott Elliot. Jacob has additional experience working as a musical theater pit musician and private lessons instructor. Jacob proudly endorses Wampler Pedals.
​​As a producer and engineer, he has worked with many local bands, solo artists, singer/songwriters, gigging professionals, and other large and small ensembles. He has also worked commercially for Duquesne University, the IEMMA Broadcast Network, and the Pittsburgh Creators’ Project. He has additional experience working with five time GRAMMY award winner, Jay Dudt, at Manchester Craftsman' Guild Jazz. Jacob has also worked as a staff engineer at Audible Images Recording Studios. Currently, he works as a freelance producer/engineer at Pittsburgh's premiere recording studio, Red Caiman Studios.
