Bio
Jacob Zang is a musician who is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a producer and engineer, he has worked many local bands, solo artists singer/songwriters, gigging professionals, and other large and small ensembles. He has also worked commercially for the IEMMA Broadcast Network, Pittsburgh Creators’ Project, and Duquesne University. He has additional experience working with five time GRAMMY award winner, Jay Dudt, at MCG Jazz. Jacob has also worked as a staff engineer at Audible Images Recording Studios. Currently, he works as a freelance producer/engineer at Pittsburgh's premiere recording studio, Red Caiman Studios.
As a guitarist, Jacob has been playing professionally for over ten years. He has been involved with almost all environments that a guitarist can be involved with. Jacob shows great versatility on his instrument in the studio and on the stage, playing in the genres of rock, funk, country, blues, acoustic, worship, ambient, jazz, RnB, gospel, and more. As a sideman, he has backed up artists such as Lou Christie, The Drifters, Jimmie Ross, The Hobbs Sisters, Frank Vieira, Ashley Marina, and countless other singer/songwriters. As an artist, he regularly plays public-facing shows with his band Fusion Illusion. On Sunday mornings, he leads the Worship Band at Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. He has studied privately with Mark Koch, Eric Susoeff, Thomas Kikta, Alex Price, Jay Weaver, and Scott Elliot. Jacob also has experience working as a musical theater pit musician, private lessons teacher, and drumline instructor. Jacob endorses Wampler Pedals.
In 2023, Jacob graduated from Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music. His degree is in Music Technology with a concentration in Sound Recording Technology, and a focus in Jazz Guitar. He finished as the President of the Duquesne University Chapter of the Audio Engineering Society.
